Nobody Asked
A monthly series where I recommend things, mainly products, and sometimes even places I really love.
Look, I tried to resist. But capitalism won, so here we are — affiliate links and all. We do what we gotta do in this economy.
I’m not going to recommend 300 random Amazon products I’ve never touched. That’s not this. This is genuinely stuff I’ve tried, loved, and would tell you about if I knew IRL.
My relationship with shopping has changed a lot since moving to Paris five years ago. Back in the US, my best friend Mari will tell you I had a problem. Half my closet still had tags on. I was placing $200 Zara orders on a near-monthly basis, and every single event required a brand new outfit.
Then I started dating Paul, who had this habit of only buying things he really loved and needed, which was so foreign to me. Quality over quantity, always. It took a while, but it rubbed off on me. Living in Paris accelerated it. There’s something about being here that makes you more intentional, even if overconsumption has crept into this city too.
Now I think hard before I buy something. My shopaholic tendencies aren’t gone — they’re just better managed. And I’ve discovered that not having seven Amazon boxes stacked by the door full of things I don’t need actually feels... fine? Good, even.
No judgment to the overconsumption queens — I was one, and honestly a part of me still is. But this series is my attempt to cut through the noise and share only the things I think are actually worth it. I’m still. feeding the beast, Jeff Bezos and such, I know. I’m just trying to make sure it’s eating well. You know, like organic grade food.
Each time I’ll focus on a theme or category — fashion, beauty, motherhood, whatever is taking up space in my brain that month.
First edition will be in your inbox soon. Nobody asked, but I'm telling you anyway.
xoxo, Dani
